Public Safety

Jack McHale leads the way in Public Safety investment with more than $12.2 million committed to improvements in Bermuda District – more than all the other districts combined.

Police

In addition to the capital investment and improved operations detailed below more than 110 new sworn officers have been added to the force.

New capabilities include:

• Chester Police Precinct
• Jeff Davis Community Policing Office
• Bermuda Run Community Policing Office
• Upgraded Weapons and Protective Equipment
• Personal Computers to all Police Officers
• Street Lights in the Jeff Davis Corridor

Fire/EMS

In addition to the capital investment and improved operations detailed below more than 100 new firefighters have been added to the department.

New capabilities include:

• Centralia Fire Station
• Rivers Bend Fire Station (Fall/Winter 2003)
• Bensley Fire Station Replacement
• New Ambulance for Bensley Fire Station
• New 85 Foot Ladder Truck for Bensley Fire Station
• New 85 Foot Ladder Truck for Dutch Gap Fire Station
• Increased Staffing at our 8 Busiest Fire Stations to Improve Firefighter Safety and Lower Response Times
