Biography
After an Army career, the McHale family decided to make Chesterfield County home. Jack and Barbara, his wife of 38 years, have lived in what is now Bermuda District for 24 years, first in the Greenbriar subdivision and now in Buxton-Lakewood Farms. Their son, Jack IV, attended Chesterfield Schools, starting at Carver Middle School and graduating from Thomas Dale High School in 1984. Board of SupervisorsIn addition to representing the residents of Bermuda District as Supervisor, McHale was elected Vice-Chairman in 2003. He has been a member of the Boards Budget and Audit Committee for twelve years. Active on regional cooperation issues, McHale serves on both the Crater District Planning Commission and the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission. Jack helped develop the successful regional response to the most recent Base Realignment and Closing (BRAC) Commission attempts to close Ft. Lee and DSCR. Hardworking on local economic development and job creation, McHale is on the Virginia Gateway Region Board, formerly the Appomattox Basin Industrial Development Corporation, pursuing new businesses for Chesterfield and the region. In related work, McHale serves on the National Association of Counties Community and Economic Development Steering Committee. Noted for his leadership in workforce development, McHale is a member of the WorkForce One Executive Leadership Council. WorkForce One is the workforce readiness initiative of the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Richmond Partnership. Community Involvement
McHale has been twice recognized for his stewardship of the James River and passionate commitment to fostering a conservation ethic in others. In 2001, the James River Association honored him with its Guardian of the River Award. In 2002, the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay presented him with the Spirit of the Sojourn Award. A member of the Chesterfield Lions Club since 1982, McHale has served in several club offices including Club President. Other affiliations include membership in the Military Officers Association of America, the American Legion, the Chesterfield Historical Society and the Friends of the Library. Business LeaderSince completing his military career, McHale has worked in the computer services industry as a vice-president and general manager of a computer services company and as a principal in a consulting business. McHale currently works for Dominion Resources as the coordinator for a recruiting initiative for skilled crafts. He is a member of the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce. Jack McHale
